  • 1950's Royal Blue Speed Master

    Identical in style as the I.M.P (International Models Inc) motors with exception to dark Royal Blue color and K&O badging on the rear of the cowl. Not very common motor but, not rare either. These motors were made in the early to mid 1950’s.

    Notable Traits:

    • Height: 5 inches

    • The only I.M.P-style K&O available

    • Only available in the Royal Blur cowl color with metal body

    • Only available with a single “screw and cup” transom clamp

    • Solid driveshaft between motor and propshaft

  • 1950's 100A

    The only K&O Generic with this styling. This motor is identical in style and color to the Aristo-Craft Model #3. The 100A was only available in one shade of green and carries no branding or badging. Not very common motor but, not rare either. These motors were made in the early to mid 1950’s. The construction of this motor is delicate and of a poorer quality. These are motors often seen dented with loose or missing pieces.

  • 1950's Sea Horse 25 - White

    The 25HP Sea Horse motors are the precursor to the better-known K&O Sea Dart motors. The white version of this motor is slightly more common than the red version. They feature a very similar “boxy” design which is a noticeable profile in the later Sea Dart motors. The Sea Horse motor has a more simplified design with no faceplate, chrome rear plate and side cowl trim. The on/off switch is located on the front of the motor and the terminals have “pin” terminals rather than the K&O “fork” terminals seen in later years. Although this motor carries the “Sea Horse” name, they are not Johnson branded motors. The Sea Horse 25HP motor is a rare and seldom known early K&O generic. These motors were made in the early 1950’s and are only available in two colors, white and red. The construction of this motor is delicate and often seen dented or warped.

    The K&O Sea Dart motors are the most common generic motors available. These were most often included with various Fleet Line boats but, were also sold separately. Available in both red and blue versions, these were also available with a “clip” or “screw and cup” transom clamp. They feature the similar “boxy” design as seen on the earlier Sea Horse 25HP motor. The Sea Dart motors have a two-tone paint scheme where the cowl was either red or blue and the lower unit was always gray. The on/off switch is located on the lower front port side of the cowl. These motors were made in the early to mid 1950’s and were available in a plain brown box when sold with a boat or, available in a “painted” K&O box when sold separately. The box graphics featured graphics of the red Sea Dart motor.

  • 1950's Tornado - oval - sans logo

    The first motor offered in the K&O Tornado line has no branding or decals. The white on the faceplate and the stripe along the side are painted details. These motors are only available in the blue color with a screw and cup transom bracket. This exact motor is also seen in other sub-brand lines such as Neptune. The “oval” design is used in the first two years of the Tornado motor for both this unbranded version and the follow up branded version. The terminals are “fork” terminals which are used on the K&O motors from 1955-1962. These motors were made in the early 1950’s and the construction is delicate and often seen dented or warped. This motor is the most common Tornado available.

    The only change for this second motor offered in the K&O Tornado is the addition of a “Tornado” decal on each side of the cowling. Like the first Tornado, the white on the faceplate and the stripe along the side are painted details. These motors are only available in the blue color with a screw and cup transom bracket. The “oval” design is used in the first two years of the Tornado motor for both the unbranded and this branded version. The terminals are “fork” terminals which are used on the K&O motors from 1955-1962. These motors were made in the early 1950’s and the construction is delicate and often seen dented or warped. This motor is the second most common Tornado available.

  • 1950's Tornado - square - Dark Gray

    This K&O Tornado reflects a total redesign to a boxy shape and dark gray color change. The motor also has the addition of a chrome faceplate and a white rear cap. This Tornado carries the same branding decal as the previous motor but, it now appears on a slant above a painted arrow detail. The Tornado for this year was only available in the dark gray color with a screw and cup transom bracket. The updated boxy design is used in the last two years of the Tornado motor line. The terminals are the same “fork” terminals as in previous two years but the wires now appear white rather than blue. These motors were made in the early 1950’s and the construction is delicate and often seen dented or warped. This motor is the second rarest Tornado available.

  • 1950's Tornado - square - Light Blue

    The only motor update for the last K&O Tornado manufactured is the color change from dark gray in the previous year to the light blue seen here. This final Tornado was also sold in an updated “painted” K&O box. As in the previous year, this motor also has the chrome faceplate and a white rear cap with a screw and cup transom bracket. The Tornado branded decal still appears on a slant above a painted arrow detail. This motor continues the boxy design and “fork” terminals with white wires and red and white insulators. These motors were made in the early 1950’s and the construction is delicate and often seen dented or warped. This motor is the rarest Tornado motor available and the “painted” Tornado box is one of the rarest K&O boxes available.

  • 1950's Hurricane 22HP

    This motor was only available in one branding and color style. The Hurricane motor was primarily sold in combination with the Fleet Line Thunderbolt boat. This motor features black wires with red and blue insulators and “fork” style terminals with a single screw and cup transom bracket. The cowl wrap decal is often chipped or damaged due to the split in the cowling construction. The Hurricane has a boxy cowl design and a mix of plastic and metal parts. The cowl was metal with a plastic lower half. These motors were made in the mid 1950’s and are often found in poor condition.

  • 1950's Cyclone 28HP

    The Cyclone was only available in one branding and color style. This motor uses the same base lower unit as seen on the K&O Scott-Atwater 22HP and 25 HP motors without the tiller handle. The most unique attribute of the Cyclone is the plastic blue cowl and the metal lower unit. The blue plastic cowl has become very delicate and brittle overtime and is often seen cracked or completely broken. This motor features white wires with red and blue insulators, “fork” style terminals and a single screw and cup transom bracket. The Cyclone is not a rare motor but, it’s not often seen for sale and maintains a high collectability factor. These motors were made in the mid 1950’s and are often found with the cowl in poor condition.
